You asked us for a beard oil set formed of our top 3 selling beard oils from our legacy range (no longer sold as single items). We would like to introduce you to The Ginger Basturd, The Basturd AB Whatmore and The Basturd Midge beard oils.

These beard oils can be used all year round, however, much sense can be made of using specific blends during the spring, summer and winter seasons. Let us explain this beard oil set in a little detail:

  • Beard Oil Set Bottle 1: The Ginger Basturd Beard Oil (Winter)

We actually designed this beard oil with the Scottish harsh winters in mind. We chose to pack it with nutrient-rich carrot (root) oil. It features our main carrier oil grapeseed, along with passion-flower, natural vitamin E and of course, carrot oil. Carrots are rich in nutrients such as vitamins A, C, and E, beta-carotene, and a multitude of other antioxidants. Vitamins A and E in particular— in addition to beta-carotene — have wonderful skin conditioning properties. If you apply a beard oil daily, and it’s packed with a high amount of nutrients, you actually increase the number of antioxidants in your body and on your skin.

As a direct result, you build healthier beard hair that will last the winter months in style.

Scent: The spicy and fruity scent comes from our blend of clementine, mandarin orange, sweet orange and black pepper essential oils.

  • Beard Oil Set Bottle 2: The Basturd AB Whatmore (Spring)

We actually designed this oil in collaboration with a customer who is in the Royal Navy, hence the AB in the product name, it’s his rank (with Whatmore being his surname). We knew the UK spring season can have just as much sunny days as windy and wet ones. So we chose to pack it with Andiroba oil. It features our key carrier oil grapeseed, along with our blend of calendula, vitamin-e and of course, andiroba. Andiroba oil penetrates the skin quickly, acting as an excellent emollient oil. It’s naturally high in limonoids and triterpenes which are anti-inflammatories (great for sensitive skin), which is why andiroba is often found in formulations for muscular aches and pains and products intended to reduce swelling.

As a direct result, this oil will help reduce beard dandruff and strengthen your beard hair that will last the spring months in style.

Scent: The musky and citrusy scent comes from our blend of lime, patchouli, bay leaf, cypress and cedarwood essential oils.

  • Beard Oil Set Bottle 3: The Basturd Midge (Summer)

This is a general summer oil aimed at keeping the beard protected from the sun, leaving it with an impeccable shine along with soothing the skin, too. Protecting the beard from drying out, relieving you of the itchiness and bristliness hot days can bring was a tough task. So we chose to pack this oil with andiroba as noted above, along with sea buckthorn berry oil. It features our main carrier oil grapeseed, along with jojoba, peach kernel, andiroba and of course, sea buckthorn berry oil. Due to its unique composition of fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, Sea Buckthorn Berry oil works wonders for improving skin health. For people with very dry skin or for those who battle with dandruff on a daily basis, Sea Buckthorn Berry oil can help to tame the flakes by providing deep moisture and improving the strength of skin on a cellular level.

As a direct result, this beard oil will reduce beard itchiness and bristliness while helping to reduce inflammation and redness of the skin. It will also help keep those pesky midges at bay!

Scent: The refreshing midge bashing scent comes from our blend of lavender, citronella, lemongrass and bog myrtle essential oils.

Amazing value for money. AB Whatmore has always been my favourite but the ginger Basturd is a close second. Looking forward to see if the midge will keep the midges away at the rugby ground…. it’s certainly strong enough ha.

haha brilliant, Kev really apreciate the feedback, its a huge help for us and it helps with Google etc when others search for a solution to these issues. The strong scent comes from a herb in Scotland called Bog Myrtle btw Ironicaly the midges nest in them. However once you cold press the oils from within the herb, the smell is like cryptonite to the wee fuckers – 100% the best and most natural way to deter them. Its the female midge that bites…she needs human blood before she can lay her eggs that’s why they are so relentless to feast on us. Please let us know how you get on 🙂

I stumbled across bearded basturds because a friend from work recommend them to me. I bought this set of 3 and have only used the 2.

    1. AB Whatmore I use this on windy and wet days at work and it keeps my beard in a nice shape, beard doesn’t feel dried out with the elements and not a single hair can be pulled out as it greatly improves root strength.

    2. The midge ive used this for sunny days at work and I put it to the ultimate test over the last 30 hours. I trekked from Glasgow to Edinburgh(100km) for the BHF. Walking along the canal paths my group were under attack but my beard oil kept the basturds at bay !!

Totally in love with your products and would love to be a tester and try out whatever new things you produce first !

Thanks so much for leaving feedback like that, I keep saying it – feedback like this is like gold dipped in chocolate for us. It helps boost sales and this helps us grow. So on behalf of everyone here – thank you!!!! Glad the insect repellent oil helped you on your trek, nothing worse when they nest in the beard.

We are in an exciting phase at the moment, lots of products pulled from the site latley to make room for new and imporoved ones – so I’ll add you to the list of guys willing to try out new products 🙂

      Craig.

Booked into the barbers a while ago for a proper tidy up. Bought the ginger bastard and after a week of using it,
I knew I had found my brand. After a couple of weeks I ordered the three oils set, the soapy bastard (with peppermint), and the Jammy bastard beard balm. The ginger is still my favourite but the Whatmore is a close second. The midge has came in handy these past few weeks as well. All the products compliment each other perfectly and my beard and skin are in the best condition they have ever been in.

You’ve got a customer for life!
